Let’s introduce ourselves! We are Natascha & Mak and are living in Vienna, Austria. We share our passion for dogs with both our families! Natascha’s mum owns several Terriers and Mak’s parents breed American Cocker Spaniels.
We found our passion for Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen years after we started attending dogshows, when we watched Jilly (Soletrader Peek A Boo) winning the houndgroup for the first time at Crufts. Years after we decided to bring our first Petit to Austria and immediately fell for the happy-breed! With Quelle our hearts opened for another breed too, namely the Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen. In 2018 we welcomed a Basset fauve de Bretagne at home and now we have to admit that we couldn’t imagine a life without those three breeds.
It is very important for us that our dogs are part of our family and of our daily lives. And this is also what we are looking for in our future owners. We want our puppies to be loved and cared about and only afterwards want them to be seen as workingdogs or showdogs. Of course we are also very proud of all the successes our dogs had in the past and are very much looking forward to their future. Sometimes our dogs are taken out for bloodtracking – they enjoy it and so do we! But also both breeds can participate in any other activity too – a lot of people have proven this before!
All three breeds are packdogs and make nice family pets too. They enjoy the company of other dogs and once attached, they will be very loyal friends and will want to work with you. We found them to be the perfect breed for us, but still they are not the breeds for everyone. – get to know these special dogs, do some research about them, think if their character would fit you, … After you have done all these things and still are of the opinion that they would make a dream come true for you – contact us (also for more information) and then we promise, you won’t regret your decision – not even for a second!
Greetings from both of us!
Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen
The PBGV is the smaller relative of the Grand. And there is a reason why they are called the happy breed – they wag their tail 24/7 and enjoy their lives to the fullest. The Petit is full of happiness and the behaviour is very clownish. They can be vocal and are happy little dogs that are always ready for action.
<Here> you can find some super fun facts about the PBGV!
Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen
The GBGV might be looking similar to you, but there is quite a difference in character though. The Grand has got a more laidback livestyle and seems to be more relaxed than the Petit is. They can be vocal too, are happy hounds as well, but are more caring and loyal friends – always there for you.
Basset fauve de Bretagne
The most obvious difference is the coat colour. The Basset fauve de Bretagne is about the size of the PBGV, but its character is more like the Grand’s character. They are funny little clowns, always ready for adventure. Spending time outside is fantastic for them, but they also search for close human bodycontact.
